Privacy policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

This policy applies to serinea.dev and related SERINEA pages operated by Team SERINEA (TP06), Monash University FIT5120, 2026. SERINEA is a coursework prototype for researching regional Victoria, comparing towns and housing, exploring incentives, and using an optional AI assistant.

Information you enter

We process town names, your current place, facility preferences and comparison choices. Incentives can also use optional age, experience, occupation, income and dependent-child details. These screen the catalogue; they are not grant applications or binding eligibility decisions.

The AI assistant processes messages and the conversation or structured preference context sent with each request. Avoid entering names, home addresses, contact details, identity numbers, passwords or children’s identifying information.

Planner progress

The planner keeps your current choices and results in memory while the page is open. Visiting or refreshing the planner starts a new comparison. Optional fields can be left blank.

Earlier versions saved planner entries in this browser. The current planner removes those entries when it opens. You can also clear this site’s data in your browser settings.

Sign-in and cookies

There is no personal sign-up. Review access uses supplied credentials entered through the sign-in form. A signed, HttpOnly session cookie lasts up to eight hours and is removed on sign-out. The application does not accept Basic Authentication or credentials embedded in a URL. Do not share review credentials publicly.

The application code does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. The current app has no interactive map, map-pin storage or map-tile requests; OpenStreetMap-derived records are used as a source for regional facilities.

How requests are used and shared

Our hosting and database services process requests to return comparisons, screen incentives, protect access, limit abuse and diagnose errors. Technical data such as IP addresses, requested paths, timestamps and error details may appear in hosting logs. Do not place sensitive information in URLs.

When you use AI features, configured services may receive your message and relevant conversation or structured context. These can include Groq, a private Hugging Face inference endpoint, and Qwen through Hugging Face’s inference routing service. Availability and routing depend on deployment configuration. Provider processing and retention are governed by the applicable provider arrangements; this app cannot clear provider-held records through the planner’s reset control.

We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. Using Compare and Incentives does not require using the AI assistant.

Retention

Planner retention is described above. The current application does not write Compare or Incentives inputs to a personal profile or search-history database. Short-lived server caches may retain calculated results in memory. The current AI review route does not write review results to a database cache.

Hosting logs, any records retained from earlier prototype versions, and external AI provider records have separate retention arrangements. Their deletion is not controlled by clearing browser storage, and this policy does not promise a fixed retention period for those records.

Security and your choices

The public site uses HTTPS, access controls, input validation and request limits. No system is perfectly secure. Leave optional fields blank, avoid AI features if you do not want to send messages to an AI provider, and clear saved progress on shared devices.

The site is intended for general relocation research. Child-related fields concern household screening only; do not enter a child’s name or identifying details. For privacy concerns, contact Team TP06 through the course or review channel through which you received access.

External links and updates

External websites have their own privacy policies. We will update this page and its date when the prototype’s information handling changes. This policy describes the application’s implementation; it is not legal advice or a statement that using the site waives any rights.
